About

That's a mandrill, not a Peakrill

Peakrill Press is mostly me, Dan Sumption.

I played RPGs throughout my childhood in the 80s. And then I stopped. In 2020, during the first COVID-19 lockdown, I joined a game of D&D 5th edition, and was hooked once more. In between times, I spent many years as a software developer (in fact, it was Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay that got me into computer programming). I've worked on many high-profile projects, including BBC iPlayer.

I have always been into independently-produced content, and soon discovered the OSR. It was the writing of Patrick Stuart which made me realise that writing for games can be high art, and the noisms's blog Monsters & Manuals that made me want to start blogging myself.

At the end of 2021, I took the plunge, started writing and drawing full time, and launched Peakrill Press.

I have a personal blog which has been accumulating posts since 2001. I still occasionally post non-gaming-related content on there. There's also a page on there with much more information about me, but it's rather out-of-date.

You can find me in all the usual places. You can also find Peakrill Press in some of them.

Peakrill Press is also Gill Sumption, my wife and postal assistant. Gill, when not caring for autistic young adults, also makes wonderful things from fabric. You can find them on her Folksy shop, Made by Candlelight
