Molemen & Mammoth-flu

You're going to have to take my word for this but today I did a great hour long interview with noisms of Monsters & Manuals fame. We talked about many & varied topics, including his Kickstarter for the second edition of Yoon-Suin: The Purple Land, which ends in less than a day.

We also covered late 19th Century adventure fiction, Bishop Porkland & the Land of the Prince Bishops (and other English regions ripe for conversion into D&D settings), viruses locked in permafrost, the Butterfly Ball (and the Grasshopper Feast), the art of Sidney Sime, cults that live above shops, various Flash Gordonesqe human-animal hybrids (with top monster potential going to seagull-men, cranefly-men [and their leatherjacketed offspring], and harvestmen-men). We discussed whether the OSR supergroup of McGrogan, Ryder, Stuart & McDowall would ever reform; and, of course, we talked about progressive jazz. Which was nice.

Beware of the menmen - from Mad Magazine's "Flesh Garden"

Then we discussed, at some length, the follow-up (of sorts) to Yoon-Suin, The Great North, which should hit Kickstarter within the next 12 months (you heard it here first).

And then... my computer crashed and lost the recording. Still, it was a fun chat.

Also, did I mention that his Kickstarter for the second edition of Yoon-Suin: The Purple Land ends in less than a day?

noisms and the Hall of the Third Blue Wizard

I interviewed noisms, who blogs as Monsters and Manuals, publishes noisms games, and is best known for his fantasy game setting Yoon Suin, the Purple Land. Right now he'a running a Kickstarter for The Corridor of the Seventh Green Magic User  The Hall of the Third Blue Wizard, a zine featuring high-quality commissioned RPG modules and short stories. Although I fucking hate acronyms, for sanity's sake I'm sure I'll be referring to it as THOTTBW or THotTBW or THot3W by the end of this post, however dirty that makes me feel.

Here are audio and video versions of the interview, and below them are a summary of what we talked about with LOTS of notes and links and other good stuff.

Interview with Write Radio

Write Radio

I was interviewed recently for Write Radio on Sheffield Live. I talked to host Jane Armstrong about writing for roleplaying games, and how it differs from the sort of short story writing I'd been doing before. We also talk about the differences between TTRPGs now vs. those I grew up with in the 80s, and about my various current projects: Mostly Harmless Meetings, King Arthur vs. Devil Kitteh, and Learning to Draw Trees.

Here is the interview. I've added comments at various points to indicate which topics we talk about:
